Ever wonder about the value of old coins given to you when you were younger? Look closely and notice the shape, the feel, and the wordings that are different from the coins today. You may be surprised to learn that this may be one of the 10 unusual and rare coins worth millions of dollars.
1. Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle
This US coin was part of the 1933 Executive Order 6102 gold recall. People had to turn over gold coins to the Federal Reserve to exchange for paper money.

2. Flowing Hair Silver Dollar
This first US silver dollar coin minted from 1794 to 1795 has a controversial history. No one knew how it would look, but about 150 to 200 coins were produced.

3. Brasher Doubloon

4. Edward III Florin
This 1343 coin from England is also known as the Double Leopard. It’s almost six centuries old and part of a small group of coins. Its current price is $6.8 million.
5. Umayyad Gold Dinar
The 1,300-year-old coin is a gold relic from the first Muslim dynasty. It dates back to 723 AD in Damascus, Syria. There are a dozen dinars from the Umayyad Caliph’s mine.

9. Lincoln Head Copper Penny
During World War II in 1943, metals like copper and nickel were used for the war effort. They made steel coins, but 40 pieces were mistakenly made using a copper alloy.
