Most of us probably wonder from time to time what sets the wealthy apart from the rest. At the very least, we ponder how to earn more money to build our ideal lifestyle. Here’s a list of habits the wealthy have that only they can afford.

Phone Numbers

One user said, “The phone numbers from people who could help you out of any (even bad) situation.”

The saying that your net worth is in your network seems true. Being a good person to everyone is a good habit and doesn’t depend on wealth. Who knows? Someone you helped previously might be able to pay you back when you need it the most!

Renting Celebrities

Imagine having your favorite band play during your birthday. This fantasy could be a reality if you know the right people.

“You can rent celebrities for your private events. Not just musicians, but bonafide actors & actresses,” another user remarked.

VIP Healthcare Hotline

A user commented, “The VIP hotline number at the children’s hospital when your kid needs urgent care but there’s a big wait in the ER (but your kid isn’t sicker than anybody else’s kid in the ER), and you want [to] get to the front of the line. Blew my mind when a very wealthy friend told me he did this for his child (friend’s father was a huge donor to the hospital).”

Most of us have experienced waiting hours in the emergency room, but some have enough wealth to skip the line.

Time Hacking

“That wealth is not what people see. It’s what people don’t get to see. That the most valuable asset is not things, but time,” one user said.

Does time truly equal money? If you’re wealthy, odds are you have an accountant or pay for a cleaning service to clean your house regularly. Paying for services like this can free you up to spend your personal time however you want.

Building Wealth

Another user commented, “To let your money earn you money.”

It’s safe to assume that the wealthy spend a lot of time investing and growing their income. After all, this helps them maintain their wealth in the long run.

Swaying Votes

Someone remarked, “It’s surprisingly little. I remember that some cable companies providing internet service were able to buy (make campaign contributions) to representatives to favor voting to repeal net neutrality laws and many of these reps only got $2,500–$4,000 and that seemed enough to keep them voting the way the companies wanted on that issue.”

Free Food

Free food is a possibility depending on your popularity or the people you’re connected with. Wealthy people often know other wealthy people who own restaurants. This means they can get free or discounted food. What’s not to love?

“They often eat for free. Restaurants love the attention of having a celeb dine there so will often not charge,” commented a passionate user.

Not Using Credit

Ironically, the wealthy have high credit scores and credit limits. Despite this, most opt not to use it for several reasons. Meanwhile, those in debt try to apply for more credit and often don’t succeed.

Tax Evasion

“Tax avoidance versus tax evasion.”

No one enjoys seeing a chunk of their income go toward taxes. Now imagine having to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on taxes.

The wealthy work hard to build wealth and will take drastic measures to protect it accordingly.

Joy

While it’s true that money can’t buy happiness, if used correctly, it can take away a lot of stress. You are able to do work that feels fulfilling, take family vacations as you see fit, and not feel pressured about paying your bills.

“That the phrase, ‘money can’t buy happiness’ isn’t as ridiculous as it seems,” someone commented.

Not Looking at Prices Often

A user said, “How to go to the shop and not look at prices and have to plan out how you’ll have food for more than two weeks of the month.”

Some of us have to plan out our grocery shopping a month in advance. Although wealthy people might be frugal to an extent, they most likely don’t worry about overpaying for groceries.

Passing Down Wealth

Wealthy people naturally think about their futures and passing their wealth on to their loved ones. Having a will in place and educating loved ones about money are some of the things wealthy people do to ensure their wealth lives on after they pass away.
